"The first Tap Room was established in Boston in 1633 by Samuel Cole. Since then tap rooms have been an American institution ever since proving friendly gathering places for family and friends." (American Tap Room, 2020, www.atr-northside.com). The American Tap Room's location in Richmond, VA was designed to harken to the days of the quintessential American pubs. Dark, rich colors, patterns, and materials permeate the restaurant. The kitchen opens into the dining room, engaging it and connect patrons with the cooking experience. A large 3-sided bar, which can be opened to the exterior sidewalk patio through vertical bifold doors, is centered with the draft lines stemming from the cooler, flowing through the ceiling, and terminating at the large central draft tower that focus patron's attention.
